We’d like to welcome you to Words Creating Space, a place where we write about the power of scripture to enlarge our capacity to believe in and reflect God’s goodness. We are two English majors who are in love with the power of a well-placed word. We admit that we get very excited about discovering Who God is through the words of scripture and through the whisper of the Holy Spirit. Our God wants to be found and connects to our hearts through words.
In our first few blog entries, we’re going to talk about the concept of space and relate it to God’s goodness. Our blog’s theme verse is Psalm 18:19, written by David as he speaks about God:
He brought me out into a spacious place;
He rescued me because he delighted in me.
This verse encapsulates what happens to us when our hearts feed on scripture and we come to know God better. Our capacity to experience God’s goodness grows within us. We are actually transported to a place where God’s kingdom reigns and all of the good things within it are possible. This is the spacious place that David writes about and it is realized as David understands God’s delight in him.
Our passion for this blog arose from the discovery of a small Hebrew word, yada, meaning to know, in Genesis 3:22. This word communicated volumes to us about God’s original good intentions for us. We will surely return to discuss more specifically what we learned through this word, but this discovery set us upon a journey that caused an allowance to grow within us to be more for God as we realized just how much for us He is. This allowance made space for trust and love to blossom and flourish within us. It’s as if everything from the point of this discovery on colored the way in which we read scripture.
We hope you will interact with our blog through your comments. God’s Word is living and active and is meant to move us towards concepts that are much larger than ourselves. We would like to invite you to participate in discovering what God has to say to you personally as we embark upon this journey together.
